Police officers charged with abductions

The Akhtubinsk city prosecutor's office has today indicted three police officers for involvement in the abduction of 10 Tajik nationals. The source at the prosecutor's office added the three had been dismissed from the police, Interfax says.

Astrakhan regional law enforcement agencies obtained information earlier in April that in Verkhnii Baskunchak unknown persons kept in custody ten citizens of Tajikistan who were going to St Petersburg for seasonal jobs. An examination led to establishing that three police officers provided assistance to the abductors. Under the pretext of document checks, they seized the passports of the Tajik nationals and gave them to their accomplices.
