Egyptian authorities send Dagestani native and her children to Russia

Asiyat Abdulkarimova, a native of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, with her seven minor children, was forced to fly to Russia by the authorities of Egypt, her relative has stated.

In August, the Egyptian police detained Abdulkarimova and her children after they flew from Kiev, where the Dagestani woman was denied refuge.

"They had an Ikama (registration) in Egypt; thus, they were there legally; however, while they were under arrest, the authorities cancelled their registration; and they were forced to take tickets only to Russia. Now she with the children is at home in Matsalaul (a village in the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, – note of the ‘Caucasian Knot’)," the “Kavkaz.Realii” quotes Abdulkarimova’s relative as saying.

Shakhban Isakov, Ms Abdulkarimova's husband, has been in the process of obtaining asylum in Ukraine since August 2016. In Russia, he is wanted on suspicion of involvement in an illegal armed formation (IAF) in Syria, the Ukrainian newspaper "Segodnya" (Today) reports.
