ECtHR accepts Pavel Grib’s complaint to consideration

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has demanded from Russia to report on the state of health of Pavel Grib, a Ukrainian, who is kept at the Krasnodar SIZO (pre-trial prison).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Pavel Grib, 19, a citizen of Ukraine, who disappeared in Belarus in late August, was found on September 7 in Krasnodar SIZO No. 5. The Russian party notified Ukrainian diplomats that Pavel Grib was being held in the SIZO because of the terrorism charge.

According to Pavel Petrenko, the Minister of Justice of Ukraine, the ECtHR "has accepted the case on the kidnapping of the Ukrainian Pavel Grib by Russian special services in Belarus."

On presentation of Igor Grib, Pavel’s father, the ECtHR decided to demand from Russian authorities the data on Pavel’s state of health, said Mr Petrenko.

Evgenia Zakrevskaya, a Pavel Grib’s advocate, added that the ECtHR has demanded from the Russian government to present, until September 25, medical documentation on Pavel’s state, as well as to indicate what medicines had been prescribed to him and what he actually receives.

"Based on this information, the ECtHR will decide on taking urgent measures," Ms Zakrevskaya wrote in her Facebook page.
