Dagestani resident accused of aiding militant Shamil Bilalov refuses to plead guilty

The Khasavyurt District Court has started the consideration of the criminal case against Akhmed Aduev, a resident of Dagestan, accused of aiding and abetting militants. Investigators did not provide evidence of the Akhmed Aduev's guilt, stated his advocate Sapiyat Magomedova.

On April 24, Akhmed Aduev, a resident of the village of Enderei in the Khasavyurt District, born in 1989, was detained after a search in his house, during which a grenade was found. According to his relatives, the grenade was planted.

Akhmed Aduev was accused of illegal possession of weapons and aiding and abetting Shamil Bilalov, a member of an illegal armed formation (IAF): providing him with food and transporting him in a car.

Shamil Bilalov, born in 1992, a native of the village of Enderei, is included in the list of terrorists and extremists of the "Rosfinmonitoring" (Russian Federal Service for Financial Monitoring). According to sources from the law enforcement agencies, Shamil Bilalov is suspected of involvement in an attack on a police checkpoint near Kizilyurt on December 25, 2016. The information was not confirmed officially.

According to the advocate, her client began facing problems after a conflict with a sister of a law enforcer in the Khasavyurt District. After that, Akhmed Aduev was put on the police prevention registration list as a Wahhabi.

"They came to carry out a search, since he was put on the police prevention registration list," said the advocate. She also added that "the grenade had been planted to detain him."
