Mikhail Saakashvili refuses Lithuanian citizenship

Former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has refused to accept the citizenship of Lithuania and intends to return Ukrainian citizenship.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 26, it became known that Mikhail Saakashvili was deprived of his Ukrainian citizenship. According to Teya Tsulukiani, Georgian Minister of Justice, the Kiev authorities will be able to begin the process of extraditing Mikhail Saakashvili to Georgia as soon as he returns to Ukraine.

Today, Mikhail Saakashvili has arrived in Vilnius and taken part in a rally at the Russian Embassy, dedicated to the anniversary of the outbreak of hostilities between Georgia and South Ossetia. The rally participants have expressed their protest against the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia from Georgia, the RIA "Novosti reports.

The deprivation of Mikhail Saakashvili of his Ukrainian citizenship has been explained by false information, indicated by him for obtaining a Ukrainian passport. Mikhail Saakashvili has stated that the application for Ukrainian citizenship does not bear his signature.

Today, Vasily Servatyuk, the first deputy chief of the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service, has announced that Mikhail Saakashvili will no longer be able to enter the territory of Ukraine.
