In Boris Nemtsov's murder case, defence appeals against verdict

Advocates of the sentenced men have appealed to the Supreme Court (SC) of Russia with a request to revoke the verdict and send the case for a new trial.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 13, in the case of the politician Boris Nemtsov's murder, the court found five defendants guilty. Zaur Dadaev, whom investigators treated as the killer who directly committed the murder, was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment, and the other defendants were sentenced to 11-19 years of imprisonment. Relatives of the sentenced men called the verdict unjust and claimed that their clients' guilt was not proven.

Today, the defenders of the men sentenced in the case of the politician Boris Nemtsov's murder have filed appeals against the verdict pronounced by the Moscow District Military Court on July 13.

"We request the Supreme Court of Russia to revoke the verdict and return the case for a new consideration starting from the stage of the jury selection," the TASS quotes Anna Byurchieva, an advocate of Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, as reporting.

Anna Byurchieva has confirmed that the defenders of all the sentenced men appealed against the verdict, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
