A child kidnapped by his father in Chechnya found in Iraq

Starting from the evening on July 16, in Chechnya, a video record is being actively disseminated among users of social networks, in which Iraqi soldiers demonstrate a Chechen boy captured by them during the battles for the city of Mosul.

The child has been already identified. In 2015, he was taken by his father to Syria (according to other sources to Iraq), in secret from his mother after the divorce.

On July 18, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a leader of a local NGO that the information on the capture of a Chechen boy in the Iraqi city of Mosul caused a wide public response in Chechnya. "The topic is being actively discussed now. People hope that the boy is alive and he will be returned home," said the public activist.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by one of the female relatives of the boy that the child's family members are worried about his fate.

"We watched the video ... It seems that his father was also captured with him. No one knows what happened to them. We are all very worried about them, both for the son and for his father, although he left for Syria without notifying anyone, and we had serious problems because of him. It is not clear how they got to Iraq and how they were captured," said the woman.

According to the law enforcement agencies of the ChechenRepublic, a criminal case had been instituted in due time on the fact of the kidnapping of the child and his transportation to Syria.
