US tourists missing in Georgia found

A rescue team has revealed the whereabouts of five US tourists who asked for help in the high-mountainous region of Khevsureti during a downpour. The rescuers left to reach and evacuate them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on July 6, tourists from the US asked rescuers for help in connection with the rising water level in the Argun River. Then the US tourists stopped answering the calls.

According to the Agency for Emergencies Management of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the whereabouts of the US tourists has been revealed. "We are in contact with them, and we know that they feel well," reported an official from the Agency for Emergencies Management. According to him, the rescue team has already gone to reach the US tourists and their evacuation is planned for today, the "InterPressNews" reports.

The US tourists stay in the village of Shatili in the Dusheti District and are not able to leave the village without help, since it has been completely cut off from other villages after the downpour. On July 7, a landslide came to the section of the road Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili, and the traffic is prohibited there, the "News-Georgia" reports.
