Meskhetians vote for homeland

"Journalists of the Georgian based Rustavi-2 television channel have arrived in Baku and are going to make a report about the life of Meskhetian Turks in Azerbaijan and to conduct a survey among them as to whether they want to return to their historic lands in Georgia," says the Vatan society that unites Meskhetian Turks in Azerbaijan.

The Georgian journalists have already visited the districts of Saatly and Sabirabad where Meskhetian Turks live and conducted their survey among them, says Ibrahim Burkhanov of Vatan. He emphasises most of the Meskhetian Turks in those districts express a wish to return to their homeland. A document based on this survey will be submitted to President Mikhail Saakashvili of Georgia, says Burkhanov.
