Truckers from Southern Russia forced to leave Khimki protest camp
After leaving their camp in Khimki, truckers moved to hold the action at the sixth kilometre of the Moscow Ring Highway (known as MKAD). In total, Moscow hosts three protest camps, the Association of Russian Carriers (known as OPR) has reported.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since May 21, truckers many Russian regions, including southern ones, have been holding protests in Moscow.
On May 27, in the town of Khimki, Moscow Region, employees of the "Mosgaz" (natural gas supplying company) blocked the protest camp against the "Platon" system. There were truckers from Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria and Rostov Region in the camp.
"Truckers were forced to leave the Khimki car park; they were squeezed out of there," said Kamal Magomedov, the head of the Dagestan branch of the OPR.
According to his story, protests resumed after Maxim Sokolov, the Russian Transport Minister, refused to meet truckers.
