"Azerbaijan law enforcement agencies search for over 2 thousand people now. "Fugitives" usually find shelter in Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, and EU Member States," a spokesman for the Azerbaijan Interior Ministry said to the Caucasian Knot correspondent.

The source added that Azerbaijan law enforcers were taking active steps to arrange the extradition of Rasul Guliyev, the ex-speaker of the Azerbaijan parliament and chairman of the opposition Azerbaijan Democratic Party, and Ayaz Mutalibov, the ex-president and co-chairman of the Azerbaijan Social Democratic Party. The former lives in the United States, the latter have been living in Moscow already for 13 years. Rasul Guliyev and Ayaz Mutalibov are accused of committing several crimes in the homeland.
