Native of Chechnya detained in Poland for involvement in IS

A refugee from Chechnya, living in Poland, has been accused of participating in military operations for a terrorist grouping in Syria.

The detainee has Russian citizenship, Stanislav Zharin, the press secretary of the minister-coordinator of special services of Poland, has stated today.

According to law enforcers, the native of Chechnya fought in Syria for two years as a mercenary of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia by the court.

He is charged with belonging to a foreign military organization, as well as with illegal storage of weapons and ammunition, the RIA “Novosti” reports referring to Polish special services.

So far, no comments of the detainee or his representatives regarding the charges are available.
