Terrorists' relatives will not be taken hostages

The Russian State Duma will consider the Law on Combating Terrorism in the first reading on December 17. Under the draft law, the Armed Forces will be involved in counter-terrorist operations now. Earlier, at a session of the State Duma, Russian Prosecutor General Vladimir Kolesnikov suggested taking terrorists' relatives hostages. However deputy chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, president of the Islam Against Terrorism foundation Mamma Mammayev said to the Caucasian Knot correspondent that "it isn't a question of seizing the relatives as counter-hostages and keeping them until terrorists release hostages." "The State Duma will consider what criminal responsibility will be imposed on people assisting terrorists, including their relatives. This draft law is under revision now," Mr Mammayev explained.
