South Osetia accuses Georgia of preparing aggression

Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Georgy Khaindrava announced that the Georgian side would protest South Osetian security agencies' exercising in the Dzhavsky district of the breakaway republic. "Documents under which peacekeeping forces and OSCE representatives must control not only districts considered to be a conflict zone but the whole territory of South Osetia are forgotten," Mr Khaindrava said.

At the same time South Osetian Minister for Special Affairs Boris Chochiyev, who represents the South Osetian side in the Combined Control Commission as a co-chairman, issued a statement for the mass media. In his statement, he said in particular that South Osetia had a right to train reservists or conduct exercises "like Georgia, which is bringing up its military forces in the zone of the Georgian conflict instead of implementing treaties on the demilitarization of the mentioned zone that have been signed earlier."

"South Osetia's aspiration to be prepared to repulse the enemy's attacks is quite explicable under conditions when the militarist policy in Georgia becomes more and more evident," Mr Chochiyev added.
