Ashuba accuses Georgia of preparing aggression

Georgia does not abandon the possibility of resolving the Georgian-Abkhazian problem by force, speaker of the Abkhazian parliament Nugzar Ashuba stated. During a briefing for journalists in Sukhum, the speaker of the Abkhazian parliament reminded that Georgia had refused in its time to sign the Treaty of Peace and Nonresumption of Hostilities.

Mr Ashuba also told that the deputies were concerned about the situation within the republic and creation of various armed units. He noted that pursuant to a presidential decree, an operational unit was created on November 5 on the basis of the Government Security Service under the command of General Vladimir Arshba. In the speaker's words, chief of the Government Security Service Kachubey Chkok and all Abkhazian security ministers assured the deputies that "this unit is created with the only purpose of repulsing external threat." The special unit will not be used to establish order within Abkhazia.
