Special operation against rebels conducted in Nazran

Two suspected rebels were killed and another one was detained during a special operation to destroy suspected members of illegal armed units conducted in Nazran by officers of the FSB (Federal Security Service) Department in Ingushetia. Two FSB officers received wounds.

FSB officers uncovered the group of armed rebels, among whom the leader of the Ingush "caliphate", Magomed Khashiyev, reportedly was, in a private house on Chabiyeva Street in the Gamurziyevo dormitory the day before. At about 4 p.m., the house was cordoned off by the Russian Interior Ministry's mobile detachment supported by several armored vehicles. Relatives of one of the suspected rebels, three women and five children, turned out to be in the house. As asserted by the officers, the decision to storm the house was made after people who were inside it had opened fire on the law enforcers from automatic rifles. The officers did not answer the question whether they had information on the women and children's presence in the house.
