Turkish-Armenian border to remain closed

The Turkish-Armenian border will be closed until Armenia leaves occupied Azerbaijan lands, Chief of the Turkish Armed Forces' General Staff Army General Hilmi Ozkok announced during a meeting with Azerbaijan Defense Minister Safar Abiyev in Ankara. Mr Abiyev, in his turn, said that Armenia did not intend to leave the occupied territory and implement UN resolutions on the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. The Karabakh conflict became one of the key issues in Safar Abiyev's talks with Turkish Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul. Turkey does what it can to help Azerbaijan in this issue and is inclined to follow this line.

While receiving the Azerbaijan Defense Minister, Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer stated Armenia must leave the occupied territory. "We completely support Azerbaijan's fair position in this issue? We urge Armenia to stop the war and leave the occupied Azerbaijan territory," the Turkish President said.
