Jaskiernia's report 'does not represent situation Armenia'

"Jerzy Jaskiernia's report on Armenia, which will be submitted to the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), doesn't represent the situation in the country," Vardan Pogosian, chairman of the Democracy non-governmental organization said.

The report reads that "sanctions to hold peaceful meetings are given.'' But Vardan Pogosian reminded that 5 out of 6 applications to hold meetings submitted after April 28 had been illegally rejected.

On April 28, the PACE adopted a resolution on Armenia, which holds a number of claims in the field of human rights and media freedom directed mainly to the Armenian leadership and to the opposition as well.

The analysis of Jerzy Jaskiernia's report will be submitted to corresponding Armenian agencies and to the PACE, Vardan Pogosian informed.
