Relatives and advocate associate arrest of Igor Nagavkin with his human rights activities

Igor Nagavkin, the leader of the Volgograd branch of the movement "For Human Rights", has been repeatedly persecuted because of his human rights activities, and he is not involved in thefts. This was reported by his advocate and sister.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Igor Nagavkin was arrested for two months.

On October 30, 2011, at the rally, residents of Volgograd demanded to stop persecuting Igor Nagavkin. He was suspected of an attempted theft of a tire of a police car.

According to advocate Yuri Bengardt, his client had a foundation to provide social and legal assistance to prisoners. The advocate has also reported that in 2011, Igor Nagavkin was fined for stealing a tire.

Natalia Shishlina, a sister of Igor Nagavkin, has explained that the criminal case opened in 2011 "had collapsed" and the activist was taken into house arrest.

Igor Nagavkin works in the town of Kalach-on-Don, and he is a human rights expert with many-year experience, and his activities are very effective, reports Lev Ponomaryov, the leader of the all-Russian Movement "For Human Rights". According to Lev Ponomaryov, Igor Nagavkin has completed "dozens of human rights cases."

Igor Nagavkin is arrested because of a crime, reported the spokesperson of the press service of the Chief Department for the Volgograd Region of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). According to the MIA's officer, Igor Nagavkin has two earlier criminal records for theft and for use of violence against a public official.
