Georgian NGOs demand from parties to nominate candidates for ministers

The non-governmental organizations (NGOs)-members of the coalition "For the Euro-Atlantic Georgia" have put forward the demand to participants of the parliamentary elections to make public their lists of candidates for ministers; however, the parties refuse to do it.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 31 the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia finished registering political parties and electoral blocs.

Ekaterina Gigauri, the head of the NGO "Transparency International-Georgia", said that voters "need to know who may take positions in the cabinet, in order to make an informed choice."

In his turn, the spokesman of the oppositional "United National Movement" (UNM) said that should his party win the elections, the cabinet of ministers "would mainly consist of new persons."

The Republican Party believes that no parliamentary party in the next convocation "will be able to independently form the cabinet."
