Ten residents of Kabardino-Balkaria accused of attempting to create caliphate

In Rostov-on-Don, the Court has got a case against residents of Kabardino-Balkaria, accused of trying to create in the republic "a caliphate with Sharia form of government."

According to the press service of the North-Caucasian District Military Court, "the criminal case of terrorism against 10 people was received by the Court for consideration on the merits."

On August 23, the Court is to start the consideration of the criminal case. According to Alena Katkalo, a press officer of the Court, the residents of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic "are accused of organizing an illegal armed formation (IAF), possessing and transporting weapons and aiding and abetting terrorists."

Alena Katkalo has also added that according to investigators, the IAF was led by Oleg Miskhozhev and that he got an idea to create an IAF "from Zalimkhan Tkhamokov in 2013."

On September 9, 2014, Zalimkhan Tkhamokov, a resident of Nalchik, was detained on suspicion of illegal possession of a grenade and ammunition. The wife of Zalimkhan Tkhamokov stated that the case against her husband was fabricated.

Besides, in April, relatives of Oleg Miskhozhev claimed violation of his rights at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) in Nalchik.
