Ingush resident being tortured, his relatives complain

Magomed Aushev, a resident of the village of Surkhakhi, was detained on charges in a fabricated case and he was severely beaten after the detention. This was claimed by his mother and his sister.

Magomed Aushev, born in 1984, was detained on July 15. On July 19, his mother sent an appeal to the Ombudsman and to the Prosecutor of Ingushetia. In her appeal, the woman claimed the falsification of a case against her son.

According to Aza Ausheva, her son "is accused of destroying the car belonging to Ibragim Belkharoev" (on May 4, the car was blown up near the house of Ibragim Belkharoev, a religious leader; according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the car was set on fire, note of the "Caucasian Knot"). Aza Ausheva believes that Magomed is not involved in the incident and that law enforcers try to force him to incriminate himself. The woman believes that Magomed was beaten and tortured with electric current.

After the court session, Magomed Aushev was brought to hospital. According to his mother, armed men broke into the physician's office and started to insult Magomed, but policemen took them out.

Aza Aushev asks the Ingush Prosecutor and Ombudsman to check the information and to protect her son.

The court has taken Magomed Aushev in custody until August 15. According to Ramina, a Magomed's sister, she saw signs of torture on the body of her brother. Ramina fears that the situation will affect the health of their parents.

According to an official from the Department of Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court of Ingushetia, the court has dismissed the defence motion to change the pre-trial restriction measure to house arrest. At present, the case is being investigated under Articles on illegal possession and manufacture of weapons.
