Search for Georgian saboteurs underway in Abkhazia

Abkhazian law enforcement agencies will go on higher state of alert after September 20, Vice President of Abkhazia Valery Arshba announced. "The Abkhazian leadership has information that subversive and terrorist groups are being prepared in Georgia to arrange provocations on the threshold of the presidential election in the country," Valery Arshba said. In his words, different variants of destabilization of the situation, including sending out saboteurs, are developed in Georgia with the purpose of frustrating the election.

In his turn, chair of the State Security Service Mikhail Tarba announced that Georgian subversive groups were noticed in the vicinity of the village of Elir in the Ochamchira district and the village of Verkhny Kelasura in the Gulripshsky district. "There is a real threat to the life of presidential candidates. 800,000 Georgian laris ($400,000) are allotted for it. All this is being done in order to destabilize the situation in the republic," Mikhail Tarba said.
