Detainees undergo torture in Georgia

The Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights NGO has reported on 72 cases of using torture against detainees recorded since new authorities came to power in Georgia. This non-governmental organization familiarized the general commission of internal affairs with all the cases, Gela Nikoleishvili, a member of the organization said. But the NGO has received a reply concerning only several detainees. According to the reply, the torture against these detainees has not been recorded by the police. No law enforcer has been punished in view of the given information, Mr Nikoleishvili added.
