Karabakh minister does not deny printing national currency

Azerbaijan newspapers have spread information lately that national currency of the Republic of Nagorny Karabakh was printed in Austria. The press service of the Nagorno-Karabakh government has issued a statement denying this information and reminding Armenian dram still circulates on the territory of Karabakh.

The Azat Artsakh newspaper has published an interview with Nagorno-Karabakh Minister of Finance and Economy Spartak Tevosian, who neither denied these reports nor gave any information about the purposes and place of the printing. He only noted that the republican parliament passed a law on national currency in the end of December 2003 and "it is quite natural that the government of Nagorny Karabakh is taking measures to implement this law, though this direction is not a priority for us in the cause of facilitating economic progress and independence of the Republic of Nagorny Karabakh."
