Human rights activists tell PACE rapporteurs about corruption

On August 4, 2004, during their visit to Azerbaijan, PACE co-rapporteurs on Azerbaijan Andreas Gross and Andres Herkel met with members of the Federation of Human Rights Organizations of Azerbaijan: Eldar Zeynalov, Leyla Yunus, Zalikha Tagirova, Elmira Alakbarova, and Mirvari Gakhramanli.

The members of the Federation raised problems of corruption, political prisoners, municipal elections, dependence of courts, human rights activists' access to prisons, and persecution of human rights activists and journalists. They delivered documents to the guests, in particular extra lists of 129 convicts, convicts' statements, reports and others.
