Peacekeepers, OSCE Mission to control situation near Tskhinvali-Tamarasheni border

Georgian, Russian, Osetian peacekeepers and representatives of the OSCE Mission will control the situation near the Tskhinvali-Tamarasheni administrative border. This decision was made at the last session of the Combined Control Commission on July 31. According to the decision made by the sides, this post will exist until there are guarantees of peace in the zone of the conflict. Georgian Interior Minister Irakly Okruashvili stated he was sure the Osetian side would display sense and would not open fire in the direction of Georgian gorges. Otherwise the Georgian side will have to respond to these actions. As an example, Mr Okruashvili mentioned the developments that took place on July 29, when several people were killed and wounded in an exchange of fire. Georgian State Minister Gogi Khaindrava said it was possible that Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania would visit the zone of the Georgian-Osetian conflict in a few days.
