Volgograd activists demand from authorities closer cooperation with NPOs

Four activists have held solo pickets in Volgograd: they came in turn with their posters to the building of the Regional Committee for Affairs of Territorial Formations.

"We demand that the authorities turn to public non-profit organizations (NPOs) and actively interact with them," Vladimir Zolin, the head of the People's Committee of Creative Initiatives, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "They wouldn't interact with us; we're knocking at closed doors. The Volgograd Regional Committee for Affairs of Territorial Formations Committee prefers not to contact us."

Yuri Golder, the chairman of the "Association for Defence of Consumers' Rights", said that at the picket he was holding a poster reading: "Subsidies to NPOs, not a fig!"; he explained that he was shown a fig, when he submitted documents to the above Committee for obtaining rental subsidy.

The action resulted in meetings, at which officials informed the picketers about their activities.

According to Alexei Ulyanov, the head of the "Public Independent Inspection", Valery Golovin, a deputy chairman of the above Committee, invited him to a meeting, where he promised to set up a closer contact with NPOs.
