Armenians from US help their nationals in Iraq

The Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church of the United States and a number of Armenian organizations working in the United States, including the Armenian Relief Society, the Armenian General Benevolent Union, and the Armenian Assembly of America, are searching for financial resources to assist Armenians in Iraq, reads a statement by the Assembly.

There are 22 thousand Armenians in Iraq, 15 thousands of them living in Baghdad. There are 9 Armenian churches with large estates in Iraq. None of them has suffered. Aid, estimated at $ 13 thousand, has already been given to over one thousand Armenians in Baghdad. Members of the Armenian community in Iraq have not been persecuted for their nationality or religion. Only several people have accidentally suffered in bombings.
