Police officers die through lack of care

Caucasian Knot's correspondent was told by phone from Mozdok, North Ossetia, that the investigation considered just one scenario of the explosion the day before - careless handling of ammunition.

The day before, on July 8, an explosion of a noise grenade resulted in two officers of Altai's Internal Affairs Ministry dying: Colonel Sergei Bogdanets, the republic's deputy internal affairs minister for economic and tax crimes, and Senior Lieutenant Yuri Maidarov, an officer of the special police force within the Internal Affairs Ministry. The policemen were on an official trip to the Chechen Republic when they put up in Mozdok. There is information they were dining just before the explosion and were drunk the moment the grenade went off.
