Port of Batumi closed because of bad weather

Since December 30, 2015, the Port of Batumi is closed because of the storm warning. This was reported by Tengiz Gadiliya, Captain of the Port of Batumi, on January 4. According to him, a four-point sea storm was recorded, and as a result, the schedule of parking and unloading of vessels was disrupted.

"The ships cannot enter the Port because of both bad weather and lack of space. The last ship entered the port on December 30, and the access to the Port was closed," Tengiz Gadiliya has explained.

The Port of Batumi will be opened immediately after the storm warning is lifted. The vessels will be unloaded, and the schedule of the access of ships to the Port of Batumi will be compiled.

In Adjara, heavy snowfall damaged trees in Batumi Boulevard, and volunteers took to the streets to save the trees. Municipal services are engaged in clearing city roads from snow, the "Satellite-Georgia" reports.

Meanwhile, residents of Batumi report on the problems with clearing the roads from snow.

"Everything around has been completely covered by the snow. Furthermore, residential areas and private sector houses are physically cut off from the city centre because of the snow. The city roads are not cleared from the snow; and in remote residential areas of Batumi, people cannot get out of their houses," user Alexander Lapshin wrote in his "Live Journal" page on January 3.
