Fertilizers seized on Georgian-Abkhaz border

In spite of repeated warnings by Abkhazia's authorities, the Georgian side has still made an attempt of illegal importation of mineral fertilizers to Abkhazia's Gali district which borders Georgia along the Inguri River. However, republican fiscal agencies have seized the cargo and delivered it over to the district administration. The "Georgian fertilizer affair" has been underway for two successive weeks. In response to the Georgian side's intention to bring mineral fertilizers to the Gali district, Abkhazia's authorities said Abkhazia had no such need. The Abkhaz government warned that the cargo would be seized in the event of its illegal importation in the republic. The Gali district administration says the seized fertilizers will be distributed among villages that need them most.
