Two residents of Dagestan convicted for helping militants

The Kizlyar District Court has found two locals Aidemir Sharipov and Aslanbeg Tugailaev guilty of providing housing and transport means to participants of the armed underground, as well as of possession of weapons and drugs, and sentenced them to 5.5 and 4.5 years in prison, respectively.

According to the court, in January-March 2015, Aidemir Sharipov and Aslanbeg Tugailaev provided housing to the members of the illegal armed formation (IAF) operating in the territory of the Kizlyar District, transporting them and performed other tasks, said the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan today.

"Besides, Sharipov and Tugailaev illegally stored weapons and drugs," says the statement posted on the site of the Office.

The court found them guilty under Part 5, Article 33, Part 2, Article 208 (aiding participation in an armed formation not envisaged by the law), Part 1, Article 222 (illegal circulation of weapons), and Part 1, Article 228 (illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs), of the Russian Criminal Code.

The court sentenced Sharipov to 5.5 years, and Tugailaev – to 4.5 years in a general security colony. Besides, the convicts' freedom will be restricted for one year, says the press service of the Dagestani Prosecutor's Office.
