Armenian parliamentarian says opposition has 4 change of government scenarios

"The most likely change of government option is linked with the people's movement," Victor Dallakian, Secretary of the Justice parliamentary faction, told journalists. He said the process of removing Robert Kocharian from power under Article 26 of the Constitution that enshrined the rights of the citizenry to meetings, processions and demonstrations had actually been launched. As a counterbalance to the pro-government wing's statements that the opposition had not any change of government programs, the parliamentarian said the opposition had four such scenarios. These include change of government as decided by the Constitutional Court with regard to a nationwide vote of confidence; an impeachment procedure; and the president's resignation as a result of the people's movement. "There is a fourth option, too, but let me not speak about it, this is a so-called Armenian scenario," Dallakian said, and he did not rule out that several scenarios could be used simultaneously. Dialogue between political forces can take place only if Robert Kocharian resigns, according to him: "Our demand remains unchanged - the illegitimate president must resign."

Victor Dallakian called the decision on Armenia passed by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe a slap in the face for government: "Our government must make conclusions and understand that we do not live on a separate islet of despotism, but in the civilized world," Victor Dallakian observed.
