Burdjanadze: Abkhazia 'not ready to make concessions'

"The Abkhazian side is not ready to make concessions to Georgia yet. We do our best to resolve the conflict in a peaceful way, though the Georgian side can't wait endlessly until separatist representatives decide to negotiate. We'd like the Abkhazian people to support us like the Adjarian people do, though a basis for it should be prepared," stated Georgian Parliament Speaker Nino Burdjanadze. Ms Burdjanadze also touched upon the role of the Russian position in the resolution of the conflict between Georgia and Abkhazia. "We expect an unbiased, not pro-Georgian position from Russia. We wish the Abkhazian population well and are not going to evict them from their houses," Ms Burdjanadze said.
