Venice Commission holds conference in Tbilisi

The European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) in cooperation with the Constitutional Court of Georgia is holding the conference "Constitutional Organization of the State" in Tbilisi on May 18-19, informed the Council of Europe Information Office in Georgia.

The main subject matter of the conference is the division of power in light of the recent amendments to the Constitution of Georgia, as well as the territorial division and restoration of the jurisdiction of Georgian authorities on the territory of the Adjarian Autonomous Republic.

Among the participants are representatives of the Georgian Constitutional Court, the Venice Commission, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), the Georgian parliament, and the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.

The European Commission for Democracy through Law of the Council of Europe, better known as the Venice Commission, is a consultative body on the issues of constitutional law.
