Armenian NGOs: human rights and freedoms cannot be subject of political bargaining

Violence and infringements of human rights and freedoms cannot be a subject of political bargaining, regardless of the results of negotiations between the Armenian authorities and the opposition, reads a statement by the forum of Armenian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) Civil Will For and Against. The NGOs demanded "to release all political prisoners immediately, to punish people who used violence against journalists, to punish state officials who infringed upon constitutional rights of citizens, to denounce this dangerous phenomenon, and not to use state and public institutions as means of internal political struggle."

The organizations also demanded that the citizen's fundamental right to obtain information be observed, in particular, that a frequency be allocated to opposition A1+ TV channel, which was deprived of the air two years ago.
