Akhmat Kadyrov lays strictures on Commission for Payment of Compensations for Lost Housing and Property
During the meeting at the Government House in Grozny on April 26, President of Chechnya Akhmat Kadyrov voiced his dissatisfaction with the pace of paying compensations for lost housing and property to residents of the Chechen Republic. He warned functionaries against practicing extortion towards this group of people. "In case facts of extortion on the part of functionaries responsible for the decision making and payment of compensations are confirmed, I will personally throw a lasso on their neck and dislodge a chair from under them," Akhmat Kadyrov said. The head of the republic holds that destroyed houses are examined extremely slowly, which, in its turn, hampers the entire process of compensation payments. As of today, only 1,808 families have received compensations for the housing and property lost in the course of military operations, according to information from the Kadyrov administration. And the total number of applications submitted to the Commission for Payment of Compensations to Residents of the Chechen Republic exceeds 74 thousand.
