North-Caucasian militants finally confirm Umarov's death and elect new leader

Doku (Dokku) Umarov is dead, and Ali Abu-Mukhammad is a new leader of the "Imarat Kavkaz", says a statement released today by one of the websites that supports the North-Caucasian militants.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 17 a law enforcement source in Chechnya stated that power agencies possess indirect evidence of the death of Doku Umarov. On January 16, North-Caucasian militants made a preliminary confirmation of the death of Doku Umarov.

Today, the information resources that support the armed resistance in Northern Caucasus have confirmed definitively that Doku Umarov is dead.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) said today while commenting on Umarov's death that so far Russia's special services have no official confirmation of the fact.
