Shamil Basayev's subordinate killed in Chechnya
Field commander Saidov was killed in the course of a special operation in the Vedeno district of Chechnya on April 7, a source at the republican military commandant's office told the Caucasian Knot correspondent. According to him, the operation to destroy Saidov, who was Shamil Basayev's subordinate, was conducted by the special operations battalion Vostok under the command of Sulim Yamadayev. "Saidov, along with another terrorist, was blocked in one of the settlements in the Vedeno district. The bandits put up armed resistance and were destroyed in the exchange of fire," the source said.
