Eduard Sharmazanov: Armenia's accession to Customs Union cannot prevent signing association agreement with EU
The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has approved the decision to join the Customs Union. This was announced by Eduard Sharmazanov, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, after the end of the meeting of the RPA's executive committee.
"Serzh Sargsyan has made the right decision in the interests of the country," Eduard Sharmazanov has stated.
According to his opinion, when joining the Customs Union, Armenia does not interrupt the cooperation with the European structures.
"Nothing extraordinary has happened. Russia is our ally, and our foreign policy has always been directed to deepen relations with Russia and the CIS countries," Eduard Sharmazanov has emphasized. He has also added that the Eurasian and European integration are the complementary processes. Joining the Customs Union can in no way interfere with signing of an association agreement with the EU.
"In any case, the agreement is to be ratified by the National Assembly. Then, each party can express its opinion with regard to the decision," Eduard Sharmazanov has stated.
