In Cherkessk SIZO, Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov forced to confess to murder, his relatives assert
Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov, a native of Dagestan, is subjected to torture at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) of the city of Cherkessk. Investigators try to force him to confess to the crime that he had not committed. This was stated by the mother of Abdul-Muslim. A detainee's advocate has confirmed that Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov spoke about torture.
On June 5, Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov, born in 1978, was detained in Makhachkala, and then he was brought to the Cherkessk SIZO. He was charged of illegal arms traffic and murder. Advocate Elvira Aidinova stated that Abdul-Muslim was forced to waive the defence.
"Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov is forced to give false testimony; he has been brought out of Dagestan and is subjected to violence in Cherkessk. In the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), such a practice is very common," Elvira Aidinova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Umma Suleimanova, the detainee's mother, assesses the state of her son as extremely serious. "My son could not get up, they beat him here, they tortured him with electric current, and he got all his skin burned. They wrote protocols and forced him to sign everything, threatening to set fire to his car and to cause his disappearance. They said that they would also accuse his brothers of involvement in criminal groupings and take them all in custody," Umma Suleimanova has said.
She has reported that she filed a complaint to Alexander Bastrykin, Chief of the Investigating Committee, Yuri Chaika, General Prosecutor, and Vladimir Lukin, Ombudsman in the Russian Federation, in which she requested to conduct official inspection and stop violence and torture. Besides, she demanded to waive the investigator, who conducted the investigation into the case against her son.
