Dagestani resident reports on his kidnapping and torture

Alibek Mirzekhanov, a resident of the city of Derbent, claimed that he was kidnapped, tortured and beaten by law enforcement agents. The young man has recorded a video message and addressed it to the Mayor of Derbent, Chief of the GUVD (City Interior Division), the new leader of Dagestan, and the Russian President.

According to his story, policemen used torture "trying to force him to testify against persons unknown to him." The young man associated the kidnapping the terror act committed in the city of Derbent on January 31, when a policeman's car was blown up.

"I do not do and I do not intend to do anything illegal. During the explosion, when the car of the district police inspector was blown up, I was at home, and I even have the witnesses," Alibek Mirzekhanov said in his video message, posted on "YouTube" on February 2.

The young man asked the Mayor of Derbent, top-ranking officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the FSB for Dagestan, the leader of Dagestan and the Russian President to take actions and to "stop the lawlessness."
