Lena Patyaeva holds picket in Grozny with demand to find her friend Seda Suleimanova
Lena Patyaeva, a friend of Seda Suleimanova, held a solo picket in Grozny. In her hands, the activist was holding a poster saying: “Where is Seda?”
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 29, Lena Patyaeva held a solo picket on the Kadyrov Bridge in Saint Petersburg. The activist stated that the investigation into the disappearance of her friend Seda Suleimanova had yielded no results within ten months. On January 31, a court sentenced Lena Patyaeva to twenty hours of community service, considering her picket an unsanctioned public action.
Lena Patyaeva held her picket at the monument to the murdered journalists in Grozny, the “Word of Defence” Telegram channel reports.
“I decided to come to Grozny and hold a solo picket there, as I no longer see any other ways to reach out to the Russian authorities and society ... My last hope to move the case on the Seda’s disappearance forward is a public outcry and public pressure,” Lena Patyaeva wrote in the “Where is Seda?” Telegram channel.
Let us remind you that in January, Lena Patyaeva complained to the General Prosecutor’s Office about the inaction of the Chechen investigative bodies in charge of the investigation into the disappearance of Seda Suleimanova.
In April 2024, it became known that the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) was investigating the Seda Suleimanova’s disappearance under the article on murder.
Seda Suleimanova, a native of Chechnya, was detained in Saint Petersburg and taken to Chechnya in August 2023. There have been no reports from her since then. Her friends and human rights defenders fear that the young woman has fallen victim to an “honour killing.”
