Zarema Musaeva’s arrest extended for six months
At the first hearing in the case on disorganization of the operation of the penal colony, Zarema Musaeva refused to admit guilt. The Shali City Court extended her arrest for six months.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on November 11, 2024, it became known that a new criminal case was instituted against Zarema Musaeva for disorganization of the operation of the penal colony. Investigators believe that, when returning from medical treatment in a police wagon being accompanied by a penal colony employee, Zarema Musaeva hit him.
At the hearing on March 21, Zarema Musaeva was on crutches because of severe pain in her knees, and she refused to admit guilt, the “Team Against Torture”* reported.
“The defence does not agree with such a long extension of the strictest pre-trial restriction measure. We will file an appeal against it,” advocate Alexander Savin claimed as quoted by the human rights defenders.
Let us remind you that in June 2024, the Shali City Court for the second time dismissed a motion on conditional earlier relief (CER) for Zarema Musaeva. The court explained that the woman had not compensated for the damage in the case on fraud and was put on a preventive registration list in the panel colony. On November 12, the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya returned the motion on conditional earlier relief (CER) for Zarema Musaeva to the court for a new reconsideration.
On July 4, 2023, the court sentenced Zarema Musaeva to 5.5 years of imprisonment, finding her guilty of assaulting a policeman. The term of imprisonment was reduced to four years and nine months and expires on March 23.
*The “Team against Torture” (TaT, formerly the “Committee against Torture” – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
