Abduction of Adjarian opposition leader connected with his political activity

One of the leaders of the opposition organization Democratic Adjaria, Tengiz Apkhazava, who had disappeared in Batumi several days ago, returned home at daybreak on March 11 savagely beaten.

According to his wife, Liya Dumbadze, unknown men captured Tengiz Apkhazava on the street on March 8, drove him in a car for several hours, and then held him in a dark room for three days.

The abduction and beating of Tengiz Apkhazava is connected with his political activity, she said.
