Motor racing "City Challenge Baku" started in Azerbaijan

This evening, the capital of Azerbaijan launched competition of classic "Formula 1" cars and cars of a series "GT3 City Challenge Baku". 13 teams of famous car brands take part in the competitions. - World champion Jacques Villeneuve and Jos Verstappen are among the participants.

The race cars were driving in parade through the streets of Baku. After touring the Government House, they went on the Primorsky Boulevard to the mountainous part of the city to the "Kempinski Hotel Badamdar", the sponsor of the competition. According to Hartmut Beyer, the Executive Secretary of the German Company "City Challenge", team members were interested to experience riding through the streets of the upper part of Baku, despite the fact that they got used to high speeds.

The competitions will be held at Neftchilyar Avenue, Azadlyg Square and adjacent streets. Total length of the track is 2.1 km. The organizers plan a special run of the "Formula 1" race car models of the 1960s and an auto show. Improvised stand for audiences have been installed in four places around the track. The tickets range from 7 to 30 manats (about 7-30 euros).

The audience will have an opportunity to see cars "HEICO Motorsport Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG", "8 Mühlner Motorsport Porsche 911", "Rhino's Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini Gallardo", "HEXIS McLaren MP4-12C", "RWT Racing Team Corvette Z.R06", and "Vita4One BMW Z4".
