In Armenia, 20 persons infected with anthrax, Ara Asoyan asserts

In Armenia, 20 persons were diagnosed with anthrax. The Republic's Infectious Clinical Hospital "Nork" discharged a 36-year-old man, who threw off the disease and who was hospitalized in the Gegarkunik Region. This was reported by Ara Asoyan, Chief Infection Disease Doctor of the country.

"After the incident, people behave very carefully, they themselves visit doctors even if they identify a simple blister," Ara Asoyan has noted.

The Chief Infection Disease Doctor has emphasized that only on October 22, 17 examined residents of the district were discharged. The total number of patients, diagnosed with anthrax in Armenia, reaches 20 persons. "Since October 22, no new cases of anthrax were diagnosed," Ara Asoyan stated.

The name of the village, where the source of infection was revealed, is not disclosed to prevent panic. "The very epidemic is not as dangerous and harmful as panic that is always there," Chief Infection Disease Doctor has stated.

In the town of Vardenis of the Gegarkunik Region of Armenia, condition of people, diagnosed with anthrax, is satisfactory. This was reported today by the Ministry of Health of Armenia.
