Dagestani journalist Alik Abdulgamidov awarded Schekochikhin Award
Today Dagestani journalist Alik Abdulgamidov was awarded a Special Award named after Yuri Schekochikhin at the opening of the Fourth International TV and Film Festival "Profession Journalist", held in Moscow.
The competition programme of the festival features more than 50 works, including TV shows and films, developed not only by the leading Russian TV Channels, but also by the regional television studios (Smolensk, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Perm, Belgorod, Murmansk, and Sochi).
Alik Abdulgamidov has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he feels a great responsibility to be the first person, awarded the Prize named after Yuri Schekochikhin. "I was personally acquainted with Schekochikhin since the mid 1990s, and today I got acquainted with his two sons. Schekochikhin was a knight of the justice, the words, and the truth. At present, there are no such giants," the winner said.
Alik Abdulgamidov is a well-known journalist in Dagestan, a member of the Public Chamber of Dagestan. Alik Abdulgamidov is engaged in information issues in the republic, including the problem of access to information for representatives of the media. He also regularly participates in master classes and seminars, organized in Dagestan for young journalists.
Alik Abdulgamidov was awarded the Prize named after Yuri Schekochikhin not for any particular work, but in general for his deserts as a journalist.
"I was told that I was awarded the prize for my journalistic activities. In 1996, I highlighted the attack of militants on the city of Kizlyar, I had been twice taken as a hostage, and I wrote two books about those events, and both books were awarded the Artyom Borovik Award," the reporter said.
