"PIK" TV Channel stops broadcasting in Georgia
The "PIK", the only Russian-language TV Channel in Georgia, stops broadcasting because of disagreements with the customer, the Georgian Public Broadcaster.
In the evening of October 15, instead of traditional newscast, the "PIK" TV Channel released in the air the video entitled "We keep silence in protest". Journalists of the TV Channel demanded from the leaders of the TV Channel and the Georgian Public Broadcaster to answers to the questions: what would happen to the TV Channel, and why satellite broadcasting had been stopped.
The Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) was dissatisfied with the behaviour of the staff members of the TV Channel. According to the GPB's statement, the product, developed by the "PIK" TV Channel, is the property of the customer and it is unacceptable use of that product during internal corporate disputes.
Today, at the end of the meeting, the leaders of the TV Channel informed the staff members on termination of broadcasting. The founders of the "PIK" TV Channel decided to suspend the contract, concluded between the GPB and the "PIK" TV Channel, the "Georgia-Online" reports.
The Legal Division of the "PIK" TV Channel claims that the holding company has fulfilled all liabilities to the customer, the website of the "PIK" TV Channel reports.
